Self-Care is More Than Manis and Pedis: The Importance of Doing the Work Within

Self-care is something that is vitally important on any given day, however during these particular times, that have proven to be so challenging, self-care becomes even more important. And as much as spa appointments, manis, pedis, and massages are a part of self-care, it goes beyond that.

Self-care also involves taking care of your inner self, not just the outside. Doing the work within so that you can thrive from the inside out. Getting in the right headspace to pursue goals and dreams. Believing that you deserve to achieve those goals as well is huge. Too often negative self-talk hinders our progress and slows down our pursuit as we're second-guessing during the whole pursuit.

This is the invisible work that people don't see. Or rather, we think no one sees it, but it shows up in how we live our lives, which is very visible. The thing about it is that we can fool people into thinking that that's how we wanted life to be, meanwhile we're actually not content.

So how does one start doing the work within to pursue the life we truly want? This is very likely not going to be a quick fix with a touch of a button, but we want to share 2 devotions found on the YouVersion Bible that can help you start that process.

The first one, Stand, is a 5-Day devotion by Nicole O. Salmon, a purpose coach who helps Christian women gain clarity so they can activate their calling.

The devotion is described as: "Do you battle with insecurities and feelings of not being enough? Have you ever felt the pressure to fit into everyone’s neat little box? The STAND devotional is designed to take you on a self-reflective journey to living a life of authenticity, through God’s Word. It is a detox from the overwhelming pressure to conform and fit in. No more shrinking and playing small. It's time for you to STAND!"

The other devotion is by Nona Jones, entrepreneur, author, speaker, and pastor. A woman who's overcome her fair share of trauma, and more than qualified to speak on the topic of, Success From The Inside Out, which is described as: "This Bible plan is for anyone who battles feelings of unworthiness due to past trauma. If you have pursued success in your career, relationships, and life only to find less fulfillment on the other side of it, this Bible plan will be exactly what you need to rise from a painful past."

We hope you find these resources helpful and that you incorporated some form of inner soul work as part of your self-care routine going forward so that you can enjoy the fullness of the life you truly deserve. Much love! ♥

'Til tomorrow,

Grace & Peace!
