The Black Women You Absolutely Want To Learn From In The New Year

This past weekend, and until tomorrow, the W.E.A.L.T.H. Experience women's conference has been taking place in Miami with a number of great speakers, business women, and celebrities including singers Erica Campbell, Ledisi, Kelly Price, Cheryl 'Salt' James of Salt 'n' Pepa, to name a few.

The goal of the retreat is to address and create harmony in the woman as a whole, with W.E.A.L.T.H standing for Womanhood, Expansion, Assets, Leadership, Transformation, and Health. The website also states that you'll be able to reflect on your goals and the renewing of your spirit.

January is certainly a month when many are excited and committed to seeing change and/or progression in both personal and business matters, and the most common way to do that is through either New Years resolutions or setting goals.

What I like about this retreat is that it not only addresses the practical, but also the spiritual. As a Christian entrepreneur, even if you're still an aspiring one, I believe that it's not only a good idea but essential to include God in all your goals and goal planning. A quote from Erica Campbell's breakout session that I was able to catch briefly on Periscope was " If you don't know who you are before you walk into the room, then your pretty has no power." Knowing who you are has everything to do with knowing the God you serve. I have personally learned a lot about this from my online mentor Tiphani, who appointed God her CEO and has seen tremendous (financial) benefits from doing so.

Another thing that I simply love about the conference is the beautiful differences in the black excellence represented. There's no one mold to success or one avenue. The paths are vast in number and shows that no matter your passion, no matter your style or outer appearance, there's room enough for YOU. The word entrepreneur is a catchword nowadays, and people seem to either be drawn to it or dismiss it based on their notion of what it means. I want you to realize that it is whatever you want it to be, and whatever you make it.

The year has just begun and you deserve to have your best year, don't leave it up to somebody else to make that happen. And even though you like me, weren't able to attend such a conference, you can find so much guidance and advice online, and on SOCIAL MEDIA. Seek the answers to your questions, seek God for guidance, and then follow His direction.

Be blessed!
