Ask and It is Given

Emmys Emmy Awards questions to ask

Who else is looking forward to watching the Emmys tonight? I'm always back and forth with these award shows. Sometimes they're great, and other times I'm literarily fighting sleep. Because there's also Sunday Night Football, I'll be channel hoping. Have to be a supporting wife to the football fanatic, aka hubby, right? Lol.

Tonight's Emmys have the potential of being interesting though with Amy Poehler's #SmartGirlsAsk initiative. The initiative was launched by Poehler's organization Smart Girls, dedicated to help young people cultivate their authentic selves.

An interesting article on the website under their "ABC's of Smart Girls" category is "I is for Imagination", which talks about the positive of having a wild imagination, contrary to the negative connotation of the phrase "it's all in your head". It also mentions that your imagination is a muscle that can be trained, hence the more you do it, the better you become at it. From a biblical standpoint this is certainly true with Habakuk 2:2 stating to write the vision and make it plain. Well in order to write it, you need to have it first right? Couple that vision with a dash of faith, and a spoon-full of action, and you're unstoppable girl!

The thought process behind #SmartGirlsAsk is that while celebrities are on the red carpet, other than only asking the same ol' "Who you wearing?" questions, the public has the chance to ask deeper, more profound questions.

Interestingly enough, Shonda Rhimes kind of kickstarted the trend early two days ago by asking her question, pictured below. Not a bad question right? Needless to say, the majority of that thread want the answer from her, but it got the conversation started and other celebrities chimed in, posing their questions too.

It will interesting to see how many of these questions will be asked tonight, and more interesting to hear their answers. Ask and it is given (Matt 7:7), so have your questions, twitter account, and TV ready and set to catch the Emmys Red Carpet on E! starting at 4:30, and the Emmys itself at 8PM ESTon Fox.

Be blessed!
