People Have Your Money In Their Pockets And You're Letting Them
This past weekend was the opening weekend for the movie "War Room". This is a Christian drama film about a family going through challenges and so the wife adopts the military concept of a war room to establish a battle plan of prayer for her family.
This movie had a production budget of $3 million. The average budget of a movie distributed by a major studio is $139 million. The $3 million is barely the marketing budget of these movies. Despite all this, the movie landed second at the box office that weekend, behind Straight out of Compton, and ahead of Zac Efron & Owen Wilson's new movie releases.
So what am I trying to say here? There is a demand for faith based content! Many Christians (I've been guilty of this too) think that there's no room for their gift due to the false notion that there's no interest out there for it. Either that, or that the Christian market to which you might want to gear yourself to is too small to be profitable.
Now what if I told you that War Room grossed more than Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - Rouge Nation? Cause it did! There is a demand for faith based content, and Christian creatives out here simply need to believe that what they have, the story they're carrying is a story worth sharing. The bible says:
Another version puts it as "before great men". Great men usually have dollars attached to them, i.e. you're getting paid girl.
Relevant Magazine recently published an article on reasons why Christians don't pursue their passion and their purpose, and it truly is a shame that there are so many gifts out there that the world is not only waiting for, but are willing to pay for. That's your money that people are walking around with in their pockets. And the only reason is because you don't have the courage or boldness to honour your gift.
There may be logistics that you have to figure out, for instance how to raise $3 million, how to rent a location for your store, how to find awesome business partners, what have you. However, realize that it all starts with you making the decision to start. After that the Holy Spirit will prompt you and guide you to the who and the what. You've got to be willing though. Be bold.
Love y'all!
Be blessed!
