Top Ways to Find Black Joy Among These Sad & Depressing News Headlines

Black boy joy

With the state of the world being what it is, and America busy being America, most Black women's hearts are weighing heavy. Our thoughts and prayers literally go out to every Black mom out there, and especially Black boy moms in light of yet another ruthless killing of a Black boy. Honestly, it's just too much. And I can't wrap my head around it all.

Because this space is about focusing on positivity and things that bring us joy, in today's Top-List Thursday we’re sharing 5 things that bring us joy.

1. Black boy joy

I know it's hard, especially with current headlines. But keep that boy's smile in your mind.

2. Fried chicken, done right

Everyone likes to add their spin or "secret ingredient", but I can't lie, the dirty South just know how to make it taste good. After all, soul food never made anyone feel anything but good.

3. Soul music

Speaking of soul food in our previous point, we had to bring you soul music next. And you know we gotta go ol' school for this one. You just can't ever go with a 90's music playlist.

4. That favorite movie

This is another way to bring you back to your happy place. And it's not that we're escaping reality, cause let's face it, we can't. But it's mind a break. Mental health right about now needs to be your priority. So until your next therapist appointment, go ahead and watch Love & Basketball for the 27th time.

This brings us to our final source of joy, none other the Black Love. The world will never have enough of it, and we'll never get tired of watching Black love win. The amazing husband & wife duo Tommy Oliver and Codie Elaine Oliver have made it easy to get a daily dose (feel free to overdose) of Black love. Simply head on over to their website, Blacklove.com, or better yet, download the app (click the image below) and remind yourself that no matter how nasty the world wants to get and treat our Black Kings and Queens, our love still thrives.

Grace & Peace!
