Walk By Faith, Not By Sight

Walk by Faith

Yesterday I discussed that a change in career first starts in your mind before anywhere else, and today I wanted to touch on what else you need to pursue your dream. Here are 4 things you need to pack in your repertoire as you head on your journey to pursue your dream.

Faith - Absolutely, positively, without faith you won't get very far. You have to believe that your dreams are possible, otherwise why even bother pursuing them? There might be voices in your head telling you you're old, it's too late, it's hard, and the enemy might even direct you to "proof" of such. However you have to be intentional and seek out evidence that the opposite is true. Your bible is a great place to start, then ask God to direct you, show you, and subsequently encourage you that there are numerous people who've made it after 30 and even 40. So if you're in your 20s, don't even sweat it.

Firmness of Purpose (aka Determination) - There's a saying that says "Faith makes all things possible, not easy." So faith alone won't get you there. The bible even says "Faith without works is dead (James 2:17). Faith is the foundation to get you started in putting in that work,  and once you've started, you have to be so determined to succeed that you keep going no matter what challenge presents itself. Which leads to my next point.

Forbearance (aka Endurance) - Your journey to success and pursuing your dream is not a sprint. Getting a clerk job is a sprint and the reward is a paycheque every 2 weeks. Now there are those that love their clerk job, and it's actually in line with their purpose. So I am by no means hating on that profession, but my audience wants out of the cubicle. And that career my friend is a marathon. The beauty of it is though that doing what you love is such a reward that your little success along the way will keep you "hydrated" so to speak and therefore help you stay the course to keep going.

Fearlessness - No one's saying all this won't be scary, because it will. The unknown always is. However you have to feel the fear and do it anyway. I'm sure many of you have heard the definition of fear described as False Evidence Appearing Real, however my blogger friend Christine St. Vil whom I mentioned here defines fear in her co-authored book as Forget Everything and Run, or Face Everything and Rise. I love those definitions because stage fright for instance can be very real to some, but it's facing it, or forgetting it, that will actually take you to your destiny.

The Oprah Winfrey Show nationally aired for the first time September 8, 1986, almost exactly 29 years ago from today, when Oprah was 32 years old. I'm sure you're aware of her accolades and that she's the only female African-American billionaire. You don't know what God has in store for you, and unless you pursue your purpose, you never will. Please walk by faith, and not by sight (2 Cor 5:7) for only then will you experience the extraordinary.

Be blessed!
